What does it mean to be a woman? This is something I have had to learn for myself over the course of a lifetime, and these lessons I impart to my daughter on a daily basis.
Being a woman means learning to embody our own strength, tenderness, and wisdom. It means valuing our individual worth and having a firm belief in our own identity, both as human beings and as Daughters of God. It means learning how to embrace our whole selves as the sacred beings our Creator intended us to be, each of us as unique and beautiful as the stars.
As a woman, we have a sacred connection to our Creator and this unbreakable bond grants us a power that can never be taken away from us, and we can learn to tap into this power as we face our trials with confidence and pick ourselves back up after every adversity.
Being a woman means embracing our own growth over the seasons of our lives. It means being bold enough to unapologetically take up space. It means learning to live our lives with gratefulness and passion. It means learning to love and accept our bodies, flaws and all, as precious vessels that will grow and change with us over the course of our lives. It means learning to empower and strengthen both ourselves and the other women in our lives.
My daughter is such a strong and beautiful spirit and I do my best to build her up and remind her daily of how precious she is just for being herself, and that her beauty will only grow over time. If I do nothing more in this world than to succeed in sending my strong, bold, and beautiful little girl out into the world unafraid to be herself and shine brightly just by being an example to her, then I will know that I have truly learned and embodied what it means for me to be a woman.
Your scars and wounds don't diminish you, they make your beauty shine brighter than ever because you're here and still standing strong. Learn to love yourself today and every day.
